| Amanda
married Charles P. Frick, son of Fredric and Nancy Wilson Frick, on 23
Feb 1871.
Charles Frick died on 12 April 1913. |
Martha married George M. McClure, son of John and Sarah McClure, on 24 Apr 1873. | Uncle Jimmy, as
everybody called him and remembers him, was married to Melissa Ann
Ogle, daughter of Josephus Ogle and Delila Jane Clark, on 12 Mar
1884.
There was probably a "natural daughter"
as well, whose name I do not have at this time. Uncle Jimmy is
remembered for many things. He was said to be a practicing medium, and
held séances that were remembered for a long time.... |
Tom Gray was a recovered
alcoholic. Following a vision of hell during a drunken stupor,
he quit cold turkey. Retta Brown, the
town poet, wrote a poem about the occasion, called "Tom Gray's Dream,"
which Alcoholics Anonymous in Peoria was permitted to use. Others
are now using it without permission or attribution to her. I do not
object to their using it if it is textually correct, correctly attributed,
and no money is charged for it. |
