CLOTILDA CAVALLO (QUARELLI)i
See the photo
with Clotilda. I think this family wound up in Colorado, and I recall
meeting a Cousin Tillie in the 1960s, perhaps a daughter? If anybody
knows more, email me!

ANTONIA
CAVALLO IN MORETTO
There is a photo of some of her
children on Aunt Jennie's
page. |
BATTISTA CAVALLO (II)
Battista married Quinta Ricca,
Candido's sister. These two families were very close, indeed. |

A few notes about this family:
Domenico's father's name was Battista Cavallo, called "Batista'l Rus,"
which is Piedmontese for "Battista the Red." The rusty red hair is a
recessive gene in the Cavallo, then later the Ricca line. I believe it
occurs in every generation, and at least once in every household if it
has enough kids for the gene to occur.
The Cavallo family came from Busano, in the same district as Forno
Canavese. I know little about their history. If anybody can fill in the
gaps, please contact me. There were quite a few other siblings whose
names I don't have.
The Piedmont region of Italy was, in ancient times, Cisalpine
Gaul--ethnically similar to modern Irish and Welsh, with their red hair
and light features. The "Celtic look" is common throughout the region. |
